Breed Specific Legislation is Like Racial Profiling

BSL punishes dogs for being a certain breed rather than their deeds.  It is designed to place restrictions on owning specific breeds of dogs. Dallas Texas Chapter 7

TX-RPOA E-News
From Responsible Pet Owners Alliance,
the reasonable voice regarding animal issues in Texas.
Responsible Pet Owners Alliance is an animal welfare organization,
not "animal rights" and, yes, there is a difference.
Permission granted to crosspost.

June 25, 2008
Bad news from Dallas. The Chapter 7 Animal Ordinance Revisions were overwhelmingly approved today by city council. Mayor Pro Tem Elba Garcia proudly proclaimed: "It's the first step in trying to solve a complex problem ..."

We heard that in San Antonio also - a good "first step." Do these nutcases all get together and memorize their lines? It's the first step to eliminate animal ownership by an extreme group of "animal rights" fanatics. So what's next? What's the second step? There are truly no exceptions to the pet spay/neuter as stated in the newspaper UNLESS the animal control director says so. The director has final control over who can breed or not breed dogs - leading to extinction of many large breeds and all mixed breeds.

The "animal rights" brigade in Texas must surely be celebrating tonight with San Antonio and Dallas under their belt and Austin, Corpus Christi, and Houston in the headlights!

More later.
